Hibs 1 Celtic 4 – A performance at last

Well that second 45 was is the best we have played for a wee while and it was all set up by a 20yr old bhoy. James Forrest. The wee mans two goals were top class.
The first half was brutal with Hibs breaking at will. There was a hole in midfield you could have marched a circus through. The team in general were very sluggish and slow on the attack. Hibs got a present when Sproul’s shot deflected off the hapless Big Dan and ended up in the corner of the net. The game was only minutes old but it took Celtic till the beginning of the second half to”get their ‘Mojo’ back. However when they did they were¬†devastating.
We James kicked it off with a good run in the box when he fired an unstoppable shot into the net. His second involved some nice interplay with Stokesy who touched an nice ball into the wee man’s path. He kept his feet and his head and sent the ball past the keeper. It appeard that Celtic just stepped up a few gears and Hibs could not live with them.
The third goal was bullet of a header from Stokesy which basically sealed the game. However Celtic were not done yet. Garry Hooper latched onto a long pass from midfield. His first touch was top class then he lashed the ball past the keeper 4- 1 to Celtic.
The rest of the game was played out at a tempo dictated by Celtic. So to sum it all up, first half mince, second half brilliant.
I hope this helps build confidence throughout the team.
Hail, Hail

  1. Very happy with the 2nd half. The first half was a worry though, we have got to do better. But you can give me a 4 – 1 victory anytime. Mon the Hoops!

  3. As pleased as I am with the 2nd half performance, Hibs could have been out of sight at half-time. I cannot believe the gung-ho attitude at 1-0 down with over an hour to go – it was like watching young children play.
Lennon has to make sure the team keep some sort of shape at the back as we try and get a single goal deficit back. How many times were Rogne and Desperate Dan caught up the park and the team left open to a long punt? Such an approach plays right into the hands of Rangers who for years have exploited Celtic’s cavalier approach, others are learning too.
Still, don’t want to put a dampner on the evening. Some fine goals tonight and the fans were exceptional – 110% behind the team throughout.
Let’s hope for more of the 2nd half again this weekend against the same side, minus Mr Sproule of course!
