Scott Brown. An Agents Fault ?

Let me say as a football supporter I hate agents in general. They suck a disproportionate amount of money out of football and put nothing back in. However I don’t like this latest stuff coming out from Celtic regarding the Scott Brown situation.
According to the manager, everything has been agreed but the Agents fee is holding up a new deal. I won’t claim to understand these deals but sometimes you need to think to yourself who’s actually to blame here?
A couple of simple questions:

  • Do Celtic really want to sign the player?
  • Does the player want to commit to Celtic ?

Answer 1: If Celtic really want the player then agents fees should not come into it. You could argue that the club should not be held to ransom by an Agent but other big clubs don’t seem to have a problem with that. Also as far as I’m aware Agents fees are normally a percentage of the deal payed by the player. After all it is the player who employs them.(I could be wrong)
Answer 2: If the player really wants to commit to Celtic then he should reign his representative in and sign a new contract.
Whatever the truth is, I am getting the feeling that we Celtic fans are not being shown the full picture.
The fans should send a clear message out to Brown and anyone else who is not fully committed to Celtic. Either sign a new deal and move on and give us a return on our investment or just go in the next transfer window.
We should also send a clear message to the board and our “Majority Share holder”. Stop messing about penny pinching or move on. If you cannot match our commitment then there is no place for you at Celtic.
No Celtic fan wants to see the club in the same situation we were in with the bank under the old board but surely, there must be a better way forward for us than what’s on offer just now.

Mr Desmond. At this moment in time we need a leader not a “Majority Share Holder” so please reconsider your position and commitment to our club. If you and the major shareholders  can’t deliver then put the club first and move on.

THINK CELTIC!

Bearing in mind that there is a window for discussion on the future of the club we are disheartened that the article we published yesterday http://www.thecelticnetwork.com/2011/10/25/a-future-model-for-celtic-more-fan-control/  which gave Celtic fans a chance to air their thoughts on the future development of OUR club  received no feedback. Sadly this could be an indication that some Celtic fans are more interested in the misfortunes of RFC than their own club. This has to stop. Never mind what is happening Rangers we really need to get our own house in order.

  1. I agree completely with this and I think what we have here is one side of the story and the other side and then the truth. Both sides are essentially playing chicken with each other to get the best deal possible. I think he will sign in the end but this situation is made all the more interesting by Paul Larkins article from yesterday saying AIK only received 1.1 mil for Bangura but we paid 2.2 for him. Where did that extra 1.1 mil go? In light of that, why can’t we come to an agreement with our captain?

    1. The case of the missing million is an interesting development. However as usual us fans will be the last to know what happened.
