Celtic host the return leg against Stade Rennais tonight at Celtic park a game which I believe we can win if we put in the same effort we showed in the first game in France.
That night we shot our selves in the foot by gifting them a goal straight out of a slapstick movie. Over the piece we limited Rennes to very few chances while at the same time created a few of our own.
Once again patchy form prevents me from predicting a win. Quite simply I don’t have a clue which Celtic side will turn up. My real thoughts on the matter of the Europa League is that it is a distraction we can not afford at the moment. Our league form is poor and on Sunday we travel to Motherwell for a must win game. We all know the energy expended in Euro ties can have an effect on the next domestic game so if I had my way we would field fringe players and some Under 19’s tonight. However that won’t happen.
As it stands we have some injury doubts for tonight I would urge the manager not to risk any of these players as they are needed for Sunday.
Whoever lines up for us tonight I wish the manager and the team well.
