Big game for the bhoy’s tonight when we take on Atletico Madrid who are without doubt a top side but not unbeatable. Celtic showed enough in the second half of the first game to show they are not the best at defending and they can be panicked by quick inter passing when attacked.
The truth is we started poorly in Madrid and as usual shot our selves in the foot by conceding a cheap goal. Overall we were a wee bit unfortunate as I feel we done enough to at get a draw.
Celtic are now a team transformed from that first game and as long as we don’t give away cheap goals we have a good chance of winning. I think tonight’s game will have the highest attendance yet in our Europa league campaign and that in it’s self should help the team out especially if the Green Brigade can get the crowd going like they did at the weekend.
Kris Commons and Scott Brown may be in back in the Squad but I doubt any of them will start. It will be interesting to see if Neil Lennon sticks with Samaras, Hooper and Stokes but I suspect one of them will be sacrificed to allow Lennon to play Ki , Kayal Wanyama and Ledley in midfield.
The midfield is the main area of the pitch that we need to control tonight both in terms of shielding the defence and allowing Ki to impose his passing game to the benefit of the forwards. If Sammy plays it’s important that we keep the ball on the deck, he is far more effective running at players than knocking down high balls which can be swept up by the oppositions defence
This should be a cracking game. Mon The Hoops!
