Celtic 3 – Marseilles 0 with pictures

The young hoops ended the first ever Next Gen series in style tonight Thumping Marseilles 3 – 0 at Celtic park with a first half goal from Filip Twardzik my man of the match setting the young hoops up far a cracking end to their tourney.
Twardzik had already scored in the first half but it was chopped off for offside. The first half was hard work for the bhoys as Marseilles looked like a well organised side constantly shutting down space but Celtic managed to crate a few chances.
The second half was a different matter boyed by their first half lead the young hoops took control of the game and went two up through Toshney who scored from a Fraser cross. Marseilles tried to get back into the game but the commitment from the young Hoops was fantastic. Paul George added a cracking  third goal with a belter of a shot after the ball was cleared from a corner.
Marseilles then went into meltdown and had two players sent off for violent conduct. However it didn’t matter as the scoreline reflected the gulf in class and determination.
I’ve really enjoyed the Next Gen Series and Celtic Under 19’s have done the club proud. There is a lot of good young talent in that squad and I wish them all the best and hope to see a few of them in the big hoops in the future.
