Next Gen Celtic v Marseilles

Tonight see’s the last game in the Next Gen series for Celtic’s talented Under 19’s side. Unfortunately the young bhoys can no longer qualify for the knock out stages of the tournament but it’s a game worth going along too if you fancy braving the elements.
Celtic were drawn in a tough group along side the formidable Barcelona, Manchester City and a strong Marseilles team. In the opening game Celtic narrowly lost out 1-0 in Marseilles. In the first home game they were beaten 3-1 by Barca although those who attended the match would agree that 2-1 would have been a fairer score as the young hoops were a bit unlucky with the first goal they conceeded.
The next two games were against Man City away which Celtic won 4-2 and then 2-1 in the return game at Celtic Park. This left the bhoys still in with a shout of qualifying. Unfortunately the results in the next round of games went against them with Both Barca and Marseilles winning against Celtic and City respectively.
So tonight is all about the young Celts getting some revenge from that close defeat away in Marseilles. I’ve enjoyed the two games I’ve attended at Celtic park and can assure anyone who has not seen our Under 19’s that the future of the club looks bright if some of these young lads make it through to the main squad.
Hail, Hail to the U19’s
