RFC Support and Child abuse 'jokes'

There is a lot of nasty stuff that goes on between rival fans of the two Glasgow clubs. Stuff that most human beings find disgusting, however the lowest of the low has to be the Rangers support constantly using something a vile as paedophilia as a means to ‘poke fun’ at Celtic Football Club and our support.
Sectarianism and racism are wrong and bad things but using child abuse as a weapon to beat your rivals with is lower than a snakes belly in a submarine toilet.
My main gripe with this is that you can go on social networks and RFC fans forums and see Celtic being tarred as child abusers any day of the week. What you will never see from this vile section of the Rangers support is any links or support for charities or support groups which help the victims of child abuse.
There is no hiding tha fact that incidents of child abuse took place at Celtic Bhoys club in the 1970’s but that was down to the actions of a sick man, a vile man who not only abused children but his position as a guardian of children. However we must ask our selves who are the sickest ? Is it the Paedophile or the people who use their vile crimes as a way to have a go at their rivals without any concern for the feeling of the victims or families of those who were abused.
Scotland’s Shame are a disgrace to our country. If they are that interested maybe they could help these charities.

  1. I was lucky enough to work for Celtic in the last 5 years as a youth coach and scout and I was told by people working for the club that before 1985 Celtic and in fact, no team in Scotland had a professional youth system. The Celtic boys club the huns love to refer to in relation to Child sex abuse still exists to this day but has never had any links at all to the Celtic football club we all support. The are just a juvenile boys football team who chose the name Celtic boys club as they were founded by Celtic fans. So the worst thing is when I hear all the “big jock knew” nonsense. Big Jock had no connection to these crimes what so ever. It’s amazing how something can be burrowed into the public consciousness when it is said often enough.

  3. Even worse that the club and media say nothing about it. I mean rangers by club.
I’d ban them permanently from our stadium. Hopefullt hector helps with that soon.

  5. Here, here! I was disgusted by Jeff Winter’s tirade, but even further so by @UnofficialBear on twitter. I got into an argument with the person concerned when I tweeted about how vile Winter’s comments were and the response I got was the truth is the truth, and he then said I was denying it was the truth. I was livid with him, although I kept my cool, and told him that he was extremely depraved to think that a Celtic win would mean the abuse of children by Catholic church all over the world. He tried to bring the conversation around to our ‘support’ of terrorist groups more than once, to which I said I wasn’t discussing the issue and that I was taking him to task over the abuse allegations. I told him that further that there were children all over the world being abused by Catholics, Protestants, Moslems, Celtic supporters, and yes, even Rangers supporters and he insults every single victim with his crass generalisation just to get one over on the other side. I never heard a peep after that, but you have his twitter address! A sick, twisted and perverted mind if ever I saw one.
And for anyone to question the integrity of Jock Stein is incredibly twisted. To insult a man who has no way of retaliating is the lowest of the low, and to insinuate that he was complicit in the horrendous abuse of children says more about them that it does about us.

  7. Any comments on the whole of Celtic park branding (not for the first time) a Rangers player a rapist a few weeks back?
Any thoughts on the victms of rape?
    Any links to rape charity’s?
Was it okay to use peodophilia as a stick when Richard Gough was the target of the whole of Celtic park?
Are Celtic fans the biggest hypocrites in history?

      1. Yes that’s wonderful.
Now any comments on the whole of Celtic Park calling a Rangers player a rapist?
Is that “lower than a snakes belly in a submarine toilet”? Or is that ok?

        1. Can you prove that allegation or do you just sweep across the canvas with a big thick paint brush ? I can prove everything I’ve wrote. Your move.

          1. So you deny the “you know she said no” chants at the Rangers goalkeeper? Not to mention the “beast…beast” chants from the Broonlooan at Ibrox.
If you do then I fear the conversation is pointless.

          2. No I deny the whole of Celtic Park were singing it. That was your allegation therefore in failing to prove your allegation you have rendered the conversation pointless.
            Thank you for your input.

  9. Anybody , no matter who it is, should be jailed for glorifying child abuse, disgusting individuals indeed.

  11. Absolutely bang on but you’re pissing against the wind mate. Let them disgrace themselves, no one is really surprised anymore.
They fail to realise that abuse of this sort is a problem everywhere regardless of religious affiliation, creed and colour. They also fail to realise that there is no “one worse than the other” in this crime. In fact, it’s quite disturbing that these people actually look at it in this way. It’s a problem that we should ALL be fighting against and trying to put a stop to. That goes for rape also. I would urge any Celtic fans who call anyone rapists to stop that also. It is certainly not on the scale that Rangers fans use child abuse as a twisted point scoring weapon, but it does happen occasionally and i for one would like to see an end to it.
On a personal level, i couldn’t care less what some Rangers fans say about me. I’m used to them stooping to new lows. I say “some” though because i have some friends and relatives who support Rangers who wouldn’t dream of using that sort of thing as “banter” but i DO feel extremely sorry for the victims of the crime who have to listen (and even possibly people within their own support) to fans being gleeful, disrespectful and downright twisted, using a crime, that they have been the victim of, as a cheap point scoring exercise.
It’s also worrying just how many of them seem absolutely obsessed with the subject. It tends so surface more when Celtic are doing well. They become desperate and resort to gutter rat levels of abuse because they can’t handle our being successful. It seems to eat them up.
I am happy to say that the vast majority of our own support don’t resort to this sort of thing. Sure, we have our idiots, tell me a support who doesn’t, but resorting to using what is one of the worst violations there is to “poke fun” is, thankfully, virtually non existent within the Celtic support.
It’s the same with the element who try to demonise the Catholic church using the same Crime as a weapon to do so.
I don’t know a Catholic out there who would not agree that abuse has happened within the Church, also that they have failed in the past to deal with it properly. Every right thinking person and every true Catholic are as sickened with these matters as anyone else. Some people, however, would like to believe that this is a problem confined to the Catholic church. It suits their agenda. They like to believe that somehow, being a catholic means you condone these crimes. They will then use this to try and justify their own twisted hatred. The fact is, the people who committed these crimes within the church didn’t do so BECAUSE they were catholic, it’s because they were vile, sick, disturbed human beings. If they were indeed true catholics and followed the teachings of the church, then these crimes would never have taken place. The unfortunate truth though is that, like in every institution out there and every family out there in every city out these, we have some very sick people living among us. They’re not the bogey man. It’s the nice guy next door, or the nice teacher at school, or the nice doctor, the nice minister, and indeed the nice priest. Religion doesn’t come into it. Some people would like to think religion IS factor though.
The fact is, it is simply not the case. The catholic church pay no more for insurance against this sort of thing than any other church.Kinda strange that if you believe the misguided view that this is a catholic problem, is it not? There is absolutely no evidence to suggest that you are any more likely to be abused within the catholic church than any other church. There is no evidence to suggest that a priest is any more likely to be an abused than a protestant minister. There is no evidence to suggest that Priests who cannot marry and more likely to abuse than other clergy who CAN marry. Abuse happens in all walks of life, even within the protestant clergy. I add that to remind the Rangers fans (a number of whom will be a member of that church) that their own church also has the same problem. I add it because they are the very supporters (not all) who use this crime as a weapon when the irony is, their own church is not immune to the problem. I don’t add it to absolve the Catholic church’s wrong doing, the criticism that they have received has been absolutely warranted and it is up to them to make things as right as they can be. I don’t say it to score any petty points. I say it to illustrate that this crime is everywhere. In schools, homes, youth groups, absolutely everywhere.
This crime happens within the human race, does that make us all abusers? I once read about a man who abused a baby of 11 months, he was pictured leaving the court with a Rangers cap on. Does that make all Rangers fans abusers? Of course it doesn’t.
This labeling, and tarring people with this crime based on the team they support, the church they follow, the job they do is completely, utterly and morally wrong.
It’s time everyone grew up and stopped trivialising this crime when there are children out there as we speak suffering at the hands of these poor excuse’s for human beings. Their religious, football, creed or colour means absolutely nothing to me. They are despicable, end of story. And the people who mock, joke and trivialise the crime? Well, they are not too far behind them in the gutter rat stakes.

  13. Well said Jas, I mean they go on and on and on about it but would it be such a joke if it was one of they’re loved ones that were a victim? No matter what they’ll find some excuse to find it okay to stoop to such lows.

  15. The celtc support sang and called a player a rapist. Is rape more acceptable than child abuse??
The same support sang about a rival player being killed in his sleep. So murder is more acceptable than child abuse?
Celtic fans are upset by everything, ashamed by nothing.

  17. to inform you all i sat on the jury for the case in question. now it is correct to say that this was a terrible crime acted out against defenceless children. the man in question was in a position of trust and he was correctly found guilty. being a father myself i find it disgusting that any fans can find it ok to sing about child abuse. regardless which club he supports. people who do these crime can destroy the children and their families. to correct people cbc did not have any official links to cfc. though they did have a gentlemans agreement with Celtic that allowed Celtic to have first choice on players. now let me be clear that at no point in the trial was jock stein or cfc proven to know anything about any abuse nor that they tried to cover it up. does any right minded person honestly think that men like stein and fallon would have swept something like this under the carpet. then again the rangers fans who sing this song are not right minded. and it pains me that arguably the greatest ever manager in Scottish history is tarnished in this way. to reply to ians comments, let me say mcgregor was the man being questioned over an alleged rape attack, at the time we sang that song. also to point out we no longer sing it but we still hear it from your end. so the next time you hear your fans sing it. think of the children in your family and tell them to shut up. hail hail

  19. Great article, all i would say are we surprised? They use it as a stick to try beat us with and to try argue when they have nothing left to say, they always resort to saying things like “Yous are dirty fenian paedos” or “Big Jock Knew ” because they can’t say nothing else.I would only say the difference between our fans and theirs is when i go on to Celtic forums, etc i see Celtic fans posting things in memory of the Ibrox disaster and alot of other stuff that you would never see on any Rangers forums or the ones that i have seen, you never see anything saying to the others to show a bit of respect for people that have been abused or even the other fans telling the ones who said the stuff in 1st place to stop and consider what they are saying, they are used to spouting their vile and bile and always will.I had an argument last week with a Rangers fan about showing abit of respect for the dead whether it be the Ibrox disaster or someone who had committed suicide due to being abused and he said”Aye,that’s different though” so this is what your up against.HH
