Cup Semi Final Preview

‘We’re on our way to Hampden ,we shall not be moved’. Love that line pity I don’t like ‘new’ Hampden but that’s another blog in it’s self.
So finally a wee break from the SPL and the chance to reach the first cup final of the year. I’m quite confident going into this mainly because if we can put every side in the SPL to the sword then really we should have a comfortable day out on Sunday. We’ll that’s the plan but to win we have to give Falkirk the respect they deserve for reaching the semi final and turn in a professional performance.
I doubt big Elvis will set his team out for all out assault so we could find Falkirk a well organised stubborn unit to break down. However I believe we have the personnel to do that esp with Kris Commons getting back into the groove.
So what are we up against? Well Falkirk are sitting 2nd top in the first division and have claimed a few notable scalps on the way to Hampden. Both Dundee Utd and Rangers have fell to the first division side so they are obviously nobodies mugs. Their Moroccan forward Farid El Alagui is the top scorer in the first division with 12 goals this season plus he bagged 6 goals in the cup notably 3 of them against Dundee Utd (1) and Rangers(2) in the cup this season. So he’s one for the watching and from what I’ve seen of him he’s quite a mobile player so basically shut him down and you snuff out their main goal threat.
The last game we played in the cup was back in October when we destroyed Hibs at Easter Rd which to be honest was a rare glimpse of sunshine at that particular time. The Celtic side going out to face Falkirk on Sunday is a totally different beast from the one in October. The defence has tightened up and they have basically battered all opposition since mid November. So that should give us heart.
On the injury front Big Dan is back in the squad with Paddy and Lustig returning to training today so it’s a bit early for them. Other than that we have a very strong squad to choose from.
On the possible debut front this maybe the ideal game to introduce Rabiu Ibrahim to the support at some point.
So best of luck to the Bhoys.
Hail, Hail
