Disappointment tinged with anger

Well I never seen that coming and I don’t mean before the game I’m talking about when we were 1 – 0 early in the game. At that point I was still pretty optimistic. We do have a history of starting games poorly but usually we plug away and turn the game around so as I said I was optimistic.
However we were never giving the chance thanks to the intervention of a referee who clearly was applying the rules to both teams in entirely different ways. We were poor there is no disguising that and to be honest I wasn’t impressed with the choice of the starting eleven so we faced an uphill battle before a ball was kicked. It was clear from the start that Rangers* were more up for it.
As for the 2 red cards firstly Cha’s was never a straight red but coming at that time of the game when we were starting to work their keeper it was a huge blow. As for Victor’s to me that one is more of a red card, you just can’t go into a tackle like that especially in front of a referee who clearly has an agenda for the game.
I listened to Neil Lennon’s interview after the game and he is not happy with they way he was dealt with by the Ref. The fact that he could not even sit in the main stand should tell you enough about that other lot. To me Neil Lennon is an honest guy and I will believe his side of events before I believe any SFA official.
I can’t say anything else about the game because as soon as Victor got sent off I headed out the house and up to the pub. I never made the pub I reckoned I was better going for a good walk to calm down. I was cheered up a bit when I got home to find that we had grabbed a couple of goals. So it’s on to the next game against St Johnstone which might be a league winner if Rangers* drop points against Motherwell.
In reality there is no way we were ever going to be allowed to win that game today.

  1. Too easy a kop out for my liking. We knew as we always do that we would have to play 12 men and the way you beat them is playing the better football.
We had the chance to win the league at their ground which would have meant so much to so many Celtic fans, esp after 1999 but we couldn’t do it, we never looked interested even before cha’s sending off. We are far better than their pile of shite team but we bottled it again.
A lot of our players were hiding again and need a good kick in the ass and told to step up or get out.,

  3. Heres the opinion of a drunken feckin gobshite that nobody wants te hear…
The Ref was an absolute disgrace… uncounted attacks on Sammy that went unnoticed. Nevermind any a his failings as they are far too long to even delve into. I guess I really don’t mind this loss as it was nothing more than I expected from that team of twelve. It was also just allowing they mob to feel good about something in the current crisis they face.
The starting eleven was fine by me.. Matthews had a rough one, Mulgrew is back on my shit list, and I woulda made the subs happen a bit sooner. Aside from that the boss did what he could with what he could. Its impossible to plan a strategy in the face of adversity of a clueless fuckwit with a fresh pack of red cards.. We should be happy that he only sent off the two allowing a 2 man advantage. His remarkably decisive shout out the whistle prior to time even running out, explains his fragile position a bit as well… what afraid the Celts may get another in those last ten seconds ya clown?
All in all the bhoys were handed what they deserved.. a greater motivation to go out and win, rather than just sit back and let it all come to them. The title IS in the bag, but the lads still need to go out and prove they can carry it..

  5. Game died on its arse for us when cha walked… we seem to be a bit out of sorts and big Vic let frustration get the better of him… daft tackle… they as usual get away wi murder but we cant keep complaining we have to start putting it about in the same way… …i was thankful for the 2 goals we deserved that… he can see the cha foul as a red but cant see blatant offside at the 2nd goal…. but to be fair we are due a fexing performance Celtic

  7. I can take defeat by a better team any time but once again the man in black made the game i was pretty disgusted by the desisions will it ever be fair?

  9. Two scenarios were played out in the last week. At Hampden Stokes went down a little too easy and the referee decided not penalty and a booking for diving was required.
Today, the same ref seen Lee Wallace go down easily under a ‘challenge’ by Cha and he decided that this time the defender needed to be red carded.
I realise that this will be no suprise to those reading but the arrogance of a referee to
make a decision like this and send our manager to the stand after last week should highlight that Celtic were just never going to be allowed to win today.
Debates over team choice – Cha is not up to it for me – and tactics can be somewhat forgotten today, we should dust ourselves down and get on with winning.

  11. Our 2 red cards were correct in my eyes, victor dived in 2 footed( had he not timed it so well could have done serious damage) and the cha incident was a soft foul anywhere else on park but there was contact and he did deny a goalscoring chance, wallace was getting the ball first before forster for me on his prefered foot at a good shooting angle so i can see why it was given.
Yes we should have beat them and claimed title but to even be in the position to do that in march after the poor form at start of season is quite something!
    Hail Hail bhoys & ghirls
    Glasgow Celtic Champions!

  13. like many others words cant express the disappointment of an historic win and title lift.Hopefully it is only a blip and the title is indeed “in the bag”, Oh can I be the first to congratulate Motherwell on their lie down nect week!

  15. Ki once again loses his man in midfield and allows him to run into the box and score, not cut out for these games!

  17. No matter how you dress it up, Celtic never turned up. They were hungrier and more determined.
I have to question NL, how he never had the team wound up and raring to go fae the off baffles me.
As for the red cards, Fletcher fae ManU who played for Celtic boys sais on the telly he thought that by the letter of the law they were red cards, end of story surely. If the cards were lawful why are we moaning about it.
Look we were on a fantastic winning run and Neil had nothin to say about the refs, we loose two big games and all of a sudden he remembers the man in black and wants to put the blame on him………. Thats not good enough,
I have yet to hear NL taking any blame, even partial, say, I got the tactics and or selection wrong there… Readin some of the replys here there are some who questioned the selection and others had the same questions at the final.
The bottom line is, if we can’t raise our game for one of the biggest games of our season, (winnin the title at their midden) questions have to be asked, not of the ref, but the manager and players
