Never got much of a sleep during the night so I read my way through all the on line MSM news papers knowing full well that they would be fully concerned with the club formally known as Rangers FC in administration.
In a few of the articles I came across this utterance from Charles Green prospective bone picker of the almost defunct Rangers FC in administration. One of which was under the title of ‘Bury us and you kill Scottish Football’. Mr Green said:
“Let there be no doubt my first priority is Rangers.‘But I’m equally concerned about Scottish football‘ .
“If Rangers are suspended there is no Sky TV contract.
“There would be no Old Firm derbies. There would be no revenue for the smaller clubs when Rangers turn up.
“The knock-on effect from that would be catastrophic for Scottish football.”
Who does this guy think he is hood winking here ? He only turned up a few weeks ago announcing that he had a consortium with serious financial backing of which he has yet to name the majority of the ’20’ parties involved in this fairy tale consortium. Very few people in Scotland including the Rangers support had a clue who he was.
Now all of a sudden he is threatening SPL clubs with a doomsday scenario if they don’t allow a Newco direct entry into the SPL. His comment ‘But I’m equally concerned about Scottish football‘ is patronising as well as being total nonsense. This guy does not care a jot about Scottish football, I doubt very much that he cares for the future of the dying Rangers. Like Craig Whyte he seems like another chancer in to make a quick buck (‘possibly other peoples money) then disappear into the sun set.
He raises the old chestnut of no SKY TV deal, well quite frankly considering the pittance that brings in would we really miss it ? What’s to stop clubs or the SPL looking at setting up their own Pay per view TV even if it took a season to set up it would entice fans out of their armchairs and into football grounds plus there is the added bonus of every game kicking off at 3.00 on a Saturday.
Then we have ‘There would be no revenue for the smaller clubs when Rangers turn up‘. I’m sure RFC fans would still travel in considerable numbers to boost the attendances and coffers of clubs in the SFL as they worked their way back to the SPL. As for “The knock-on effect from that would be catastrophic for Scottish football.” What does he actually know about Scottish football and where is his proof to back his statement up ?
Green comes across as an aggressive bully and if that is the type of person who will end up in control of this Newco then to me it’s another reason why they should not be allowed near the SPL.
