Now that we finally know as that RFC (Deceased) where guilty of running side contract relating to EBT’s the time has come to work out the punnishment.
The SPL will meet on July 4th to decide if Charles Greens carcus of a club will be allowed to Join the SPL. After that the SPL will impose sanctions on the Newco.
Punishments available are :
From STV :The full list of sanctions available to the SPL are a warning, a reprimand, a fine, the annulment of an official match, ordering a match is replayed, a points deduction, the award of an official match to an opponent, ordering games to be played behind closed doors, stadium closure, expulsion from the league, the withdrawal of a title or award, ordering compensation to be paid, a signing embargo and/or any other punishment the SPL board sees fit.
I suggest a suitable punishment would be to reject Newco’s entry into the SPL then strip titles, cups etc won by the old company and present them to the runners up in the competitions where RFC played players on side contracts. The SFA should then accept them as a totally new club with no ties to the past e.g. no adoption of previous titles, cups etc. Then leave the newco to apply for member ship of SFL division three as an entirely new entity.
This to me seems a fair and reaonable punishment which will satisfy football fans and underpin the integrity of our game. It will also allow a fresh start for a new club starting at year zero. Then they can legitimately work their way back up through the leagues to the SPL.
Hopefully if an entirely new club can start a fresh they can leave behind their sectarian past and promotion of pro unionist politics. In other words just be another football club concentrating on winning trophies and entertaining supporters.
