SFL Clubs should not have a gun held to their heads

After reading the statement from Stenhousemuir Football Club  which can be read here . It’s a lengthy statement however it shows that their board have seriously looked at all the implications from the various scenarios presented to them regarding which ever league sevco play in.
Stenhousemuir have decided that they believe Sevco in Division one is the best outcome for their club which is fair enough but in my opinion is flawed and inconsistent. I one paragraph in particular relating to pros and cons of an agreement vote sevco into division one a mixed message is sent out,

  1. The impact for Stenhousemuir FC would potentially be financially positive given the additional media rights payment and the retained settlement agreement.
  2.  However, it is acknowledged that the implications of supporters not returning to the game due to the adverse reaction of this could have a financial and lasting impact.
Now you can’t have it both ways. Either the club comes first or the fans come first. They openly acknowledged that fans may walk away from the game and that could have a lasting financial impact. Basically a loss of income from the most important people in the game namely football supporters.
I’m not going to judge the board of Stenhousemuir FC whichever way they vote it is their decision but the fact remains they and other SFL football clubs should never have been put in this position in the first place. A company which used to operate in the premier league went into liquidation . A new company was set up which acquired the assets of the dead company. It hen applies for the transfer of shares in the SPL to be transferred to the new company.  That was quite rightly denied as the company have no history of operating a football team in Scotland.
The decent thing to do would then be to apply for membership if the SFL which they have but and start in division three. However Stewart Regan of the SFA, Neil Doncaster of the SPL and David Longmuir of the SFL have colluded together to corrupt the game in order to allow this new company into division one of the SFL with promises of sweeties for those good boys and girls who want to come to their party whilst others who don’t can stand outside in the cold looking in while all the good boys and girls play.
If your read the document released last week and the statement from Stenhousemuir Football Club it is clear that a gun is being held to the head of every member club in divisions 1,2 & 3. This is disgusting. This is corruption.

  1. There was so much missing from the document submitted to SFL clubs it could have been drawn up by a 15yr old. Where was the analasis of the effect on clubs by fans turning away from a rigged sport? Where was the statement from Sky etc to confirm no more tv deal?
I need to lie down as when I read this crap it gives me a headache, not your blog Jas, the crap from Doncaster et al

  3. …and to cap it all Wee Ally [Bless him] has come out and said maybe it would be better for newco if they did start in the third division. Aye we know why he has said that. Because right now he doesnt have a squad that would get them out of the first division. But if they started in the third he knows his current squad could just about compete. Now for a failed media darling this makes sense as he keeps his already flimsy managerial reputation intact as he leads the charge of the bruised brigade. Battling in the face of adversity and all that. Of course this all depends on newco surviving the next few weeks and that isnt guaranteed.

  5. I think sevco manager knows they’re going to 1st div… by corrupt means… and most football fans know it, sevco will forever be seen as the team who got a leg up by the ruling bodies, if he had any morals ( I know,I know ) why did’nt he come out with that statement when rfc were liquidated? load of nonsense…
