Have Rangers Punished Enough ?

There’s been a lot of gum bumping from certain quarters from within the media, rfc newco and others that Rangers have been punished enough. So let’s look at the punishments RFC oldco have been hit with.

  1. 10pts deduction from the SPL for entering into administration
  2. Embargo on Signing Players, challenged in the courts still not implemented

So in reality they have punished once for a legitimate cause. The other punishment mentioned is currently being debated between the SFA and Sevco.
Being rejected from the SPL is not a punishment as Sevco did not meet the membership criteria. Being invited to join the SFL in division three is not a punishment it is in fact a gesture of goodwill as sevco do not meet the criteria to be members nor play in division three. So that’s that attended to.
Next up we have fines imposed by the SFA for oldco breaking the rules and orders to pay money due to football clubs for transfers and tickets. On top of this we have possible sanctions from the SPL if in fact oldco were running dual contracts. The EBT’s and other Tax cases I’ll leave aside because thay will be dealt with by HMRC.
So we have a situation here where Charles Green wants the SFA membership of oldco transferred to newco because newco do not fit the criteria to join the SFA as a new club.
So it is only right and proper if newco want oldco’s membership that they take the punishments handed out by the football authorities to oldco. When newco accept this and take up the membership then they will be punished but up till this minute they have newco have not been punished for anything and oldco has only been punished for going into admin during the season.
I hope this helps clear things up for those who have difficulty in grasping the facts.

  1. The ten point penalty isn’t a punishment, it’s a known consequence of going into administration. As things stand, Rangers FC PLC(IA) haven’t been punished at all and as you so rightly say, Sevco have so far received preferential treatment. They have a conditional invitation to join a league without first meeting the criteria for membership.
Green wants to be seen as the victim when in fact it is he who is driving the sometimes oldco sometimes newco agenda. He’ll use it as an excuse for failing to have a team in place in time for the kick off. No Sevco Flavour Rangers anywhere next season, I’m 99% sure of that.
