Step up to the plate Kenny, REALLY?

I admire the Kilmarnock manager Kenny Shiels, I think the man talk’s a lot. Some of his behaviour last season created controversy however personally, I like a manager who has fire in his belly and isn’t afraid to show it.
However I have to question his comments mae public today that Kilmarnock supporters must “Step step up to the plate”

“I still have full confidence we will get 5000 to 6000 season ticket holders this season. We have made a decision as a league to put Rangers out, so it’s time for people to step up to the plate.

Sorry Kenny, but if it was left up to your chairman, Sporting Integrity wouldn’t have had a look in. Kilmarnock supporters are angry that the sole director of their club went against a supporters view & be the only club in the SPL to not vote SevCo out of the SPL.

The man has shown no courage to even back his own feelings too vote YES – We all know that was his intentions before realising he would be the only club to do so.

I honestly feel for Kilmarnock fans and I hope they don’t suffer simply down to the stubbornness & ignorance of one man.

  1. Agree to a point, but please remember that Newco was not “voted-out” of the SPL; instead they were not admitted – there is a substantial difference and we should not give weight to the victim view of most ex-Rangers fans.

    1. Ian your spot on. What I should had said was that a vote had taken place and Johnston (Killie chairman) was the only chairman out with SevCo to not Vote No.

  3. I agree and disagree with the sentiments here. Yes, Kilmarnock did vote Newco in, but as you say, against the express wishes of the fans. Shiels is in a tricky position and in a sense he’s right – the fans had stepped up to the plate and they did put pressure on their chairman who chose to disregard them anyway. Shiels needs to get people in the door and the fans need to get behind their club even if their chairman is a tosser and has a blatant disregard for their views, but Shiels should have just chosen his words a bit more sagely. I also really hope fans of other clubs don’t boycott Killie. They (the fans) voted for integrity and should not be punished for the sins of the father.
PS Not to nitpick or anything but up in your banner it says: Champions of Scotland Celebrating 125 year of Continuos (sic) History. It’s missing a ‘u’. It should be continuous.
