Celtic V Aberdeen preview of Flag day

No Complacency only Silverware

We we’re less than 24hrs away from the start of a New SPL season and this season for the first time in a while we start as Champions. Long may that continue.

Aberdeen will turn up with their new additions Jonny Hayes (Inverness Caledonian Thistle), Niall McGinn (Celtic), Gary Naysmith (Huddersfield) while Celtic won’t but hey we are all used to that by now. Still Celtic should have enough in their locker to see off Aberdeen.

The game will be an ideal preparation for next weeks away leg against HJK helsinki. A good hi tempo game would be ideal. I’m sure Aberdeen won’t be turning up just to make up the numbers.

I expect Paw Broon to set out his stall to try and hit us on the counter with the out balls going straight to Niall McGinn who will find it strange playing against Celtic at Celtic park but he has a new club now and I hope he does well for them after tomorrows game of course.

I think Sammy may start on the bench to allow Hooper and stokes to partner each other up front. Sammy has played a lot of football this year so it won’t do him any harm to rest on the bench and be called upon should we need him at one point in the game. The mid field again is where the tinkering will be, I suspect Forrest, Kayal, Victor and Joe Ledly may start the game.

At the back I expect Izzy and Adam Mathews will take the fullback positions with Charlie Mulgrew and A.N. Other to play at centre half.

Hope fully we will get as near a full house as possible to see Celtic Legend Sean Fallon unfurl the League flag. Many wanted the Bunnet but the powers that be have decided to give Sean the honour in his 90th year. I have had the privilege of meeting Sean Fallon on a couple of occasions and he is a gentleman of the highest order always willing to chat away about Celtic and the Stein era.

Maybe some time in the near future Fergus can do the honours hopefully next season.

So here’s to the start of not only a brand new season but a brand new era with third division club from Govan out of the picture.

Hail, Hail and Come on you bhoys in green o/
