Well that’s us with one foot in the Champions league and we have Forster,Commons and big Sammy to thank.I wrote this up before during and after the game as I am working on The Celtic Network Season Two which will be on release at the end of the season.
Well the big game is just over an hour away and I’m as nervous as a Kitten! The team has just been announced via Twitter
Starting 11: Forster; Matthews, Rogne, Mulgrew, Izaguirre; Commons, Brown, Kayal, Ledley, Samaras; Hooper.
Subs: Subs Zaluska, Wilson, Lustig, Chalmers, McCourt, Forrest, Watt.
I think that’s about the strongest team we could put out with a couple of attacking options on the bench in the shape of McCourt and Forrest. As long as we are switched on from the start unlike Saturday we can get a positive result out of this game.
Well it’s half time and Celtic are winning 0 – 1, delighted to get that all important away goal scored by Commons in the second minute of the game. However after that Celtic started slacking off, losing possession far too easily and Helsingborg have picked up their game. A better team could have scored a couple against us. So let’s see what the second half brings.
Second half starts with Forrest replacing Kayal whether it’s tactical or Kayal has picked up a knock we’ll have to wait and see. After a dodgy start Celtic pick up their game in the second half and after a few slight scares Samaras scores in the 74th minute to make it 0 – 2 and a huddle breaks out in Helsingborg. Minutes later Sammy races into the box could have killed the tie but he fluffed it when all he had to do was play in Commons but that’s what you get with Sammy hero to zero in 10 seconds. Big Charlie Mulgrew was unlucky when his shot hit the bar.
Celtic gave Tony Watt his European debut for the last five minutes. Celtic survived a few corners near the death to leave with a 2 – 0 win to take back to Celtic park. I can almost smell the Champions League now. We never played great in patches but we took our chances and kept a clean sheet. That will do for me.
