Celtic Deadline Day as it Happened

Last day of a very busy but successful month and the closing day of the transfer window. I expect the rumour machine to be in overdrive. Lennon has indicated that he wants at least one centre forward and a central defender. Whether he can achieve this in one day remains to be seen however I take it Peter Lawwell may have advanced plans in the background which will enable us to get medicals done and signings confirmed by tonight.

14.40 nothing doing yet apart from speculation surrounding Belgium International striker Marvin Ogunjimi who has apparently flew in to Glasgow from Mallorca for talks.

18.00 Efe Ambrose 6ft 3in Defender arrives at Celtic Park with a view to finalising a move and Real Mallorca confirm they have had a bid from Celtic for Striker Marvin Ogunjimi however there maybe complications as he has just begun a loan deal with Standard Liège. Also speculation regarding Dundee Utd’s Johnny Russell but the £2m price tag may kill that one.

18.48 and the first one is in the bag. Efe Ambrose has signed a 3 year deal (subject to work permit) with Celtic the 6ft 3in Nigerian Centre half may just be the commanding presence we need. 20.00 Celtic send Andre Blackman on 6 months loan to ICT. Should guarantee him first team football. Celtic supposedly working on two more deals.

21.15 Nicolas Fedor of Getafe latest to be linked by Sky Sports on a loan deal, Johnny Russell talk won’t go away rumours that Dundee UTD have accepted a bid of £1.5m. Personally I don’t think there is any substance to the Russell rumour.

21.43 Getafe announce that Striker Nicolas Fedor (Miku) on a season long loan deal so that’s two in the bag. The good thing is we have finally signed a big centre half and tall striker which we have been asking for.

22.50 Celtic sign keeper Lubos Kamenar 25 year old Slovakian on loan from Nantes until end of the season, with an option to buy.

23.00 Transfer window closed in the SPL. As usual the media and the fans never had a clue who we would sign. Some rumours still around that we will sign an out of contract player over the next few days but rumours are just that.

I’m happy that we finally brought in a Big strong Centre Half and a striker, the goal keeper was a surprise. I wish the new guys all the best and I hope they can further strenghthen what is already the nucleus of a good Celtic Team.
