Stay Fit & Earn A Better Deal

Personally I consider Thomas Rogne the best Centre Half we have at Celtic, some will say otherwise however I feel when a FIT Rogne is in the side, our defence is far more reliable & solid.

This should show everyone how highly I rate the bhoy however I’m afraid I’m somewhat disappointed with him running to the rags, crying like a baby due to him not agreeing to a contract recently offered by the club.

You see, for me, If a player cannot keep himself fit for a fair length of the season then he should compare himself on first team players that can.

Thomas Rogne is always a niggling injury away from completing no more than 5 successive games in the first team. The same could be said for our captain Scott Brown however Brown has been in the squad a lot longer & playing far more games.

What would contractual offer would you put to Rogne? Would you give him what he’s asking, to be on a comparative level to other first team players?

  1. Haven’t a clue what he’s being offered, or what it is in comparison to others – we never will either, I assume. But I agree we need as many skilled central defenders as possible – especially in Europe of course.

However, Rogne does seem to realise himself that fitness is probably the main issue – he brings the issue up himself, unprompted, in his newspaper quotes.

If that is case, then if it was me, I think I would have moved heaven and earth to do as much as possible to be fit and ready for this season (or at least got my agent to do some PR along these lines instead of this rubbish) before sitting down for contract talks.

I think we all know that moaning to the press does not wash at Celtic, and particularly with someone like Neil Lennon – and Rogne’s even closer to knowing that than us.

Maybe he’s just forever going to be an injury risk, maybe not. But, especially as he’s a good player, I’m prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt – and maybe just put it down to Rogne’s agent being a complete tit.
