Scotland Bored,Bored, Bored !

International breaks are torture especially if your Scottish and support or would love to have a reason to support the National team.

I am one who would love a reason to. Unfortunately with the current manager and his tactics and poor use of players at his disposal some of whom are very good players.. Since that fatefull night he played 6-4 away from home things have not improved. Personally I can’t see why the players put up with it. It’s clear the Support haven’t.

Tonight we play Belgium who have just Humped Serbia who incidently are better than any one we have played so far so I have to let my head rule my heart on tonight’s game and declare that Scotland will not win this game at best we can pick a point up which will take our total to over two points from 4 games that’s if we score a goal.

Frankly this is not good enough. The managers results in competitive games are abysmal and there is noway barring a miracle that we will even reach a play off place. So basically at this point our world cup is over. And a look at the table will tell you why.

Both Belgium and Croatia are moving away. Now whether Belgium can maintain their form remains to be seen but I expect Serbia to improve. So these at present are the main movers and shakers. Below them Wales,Scotland and FYR Macedonia will rightly be seen by the top three as the teams to get your three points from. It happens in every league those at the to see the bottom teams a easy pickings and they will go full pelt against these teams to get those three points. It’s the way of football.

Now It could turn out that I am well off the mark and Scotland will win their remaining matches and Qualify. However lets all be honest here Levein has a win ratio of 48% that includes friendly matches by contrast Neil Lennon has a 76% win ratio. Now I’m not suggesting Neil Lennon should take over Scotland however as Celtic fans would you tolerate a manager with 48% win ratio? I suspect the answer would be a resounding NO!

So why should Scotland fans except that? I totally appreciate there is a huge difference between club and international management obviously International managers only have the players for a couple of weeks and some players pull out leaving an international manager with a sore heid. However unlike Lennon or Derek Adams at Ross County Levein has done nothing to improve the national team since he took over.

In my opinion our world cup campaign as it stands is over therefor this is the best time to approach Gordon Strachan and ask him to rescue a sinking ship. Remember when he took over Celtic there were questions like ‘what’s he going to do”? Well his trophy count and achievements in Europe are there to be seen.

Let’s clear the decks and get the wee man in there and get put the passion back into Scotland

  3. Sad to say, the national farce goes far beyond Scottish team managers. It has as much, if not more, to do with the ethos of all concerned with the Scottish game. The rottenness that exists in the corridors of power at Hampden seeps into every crevice within that structure. One honest look at the history of the national team will provide all the evidence needed to prove that even at national level, one team always has been favoured by players’ selection with choices being made very much to suit the wishes of a particular team than the national need. Until this problem is sorted, until that filth is washed away, then a thousand W.G.Ss. will change nothing. Is it not pathetic that many people like myself have never and still do not have the inclination to cheer on our country’s football team because I believe it does not represent me or even more depressingly, simply because I feel it it does not deserve my support.
