Don’t really know what to right. I’m still in a state of Euphoria, God only knows what Tony Watt is thinking. 18 yr old comes on runs one of the best centre half raggard and scores the type of goal that Henrik would score.
Big victor Bossed the midfield and showed the skills of a 28 yr old International pro. Fraser Forster well basically a world class keeper for the future.
Everything went to plan as far as Barca were concerned. Tried to hem us in our own box but it never worked because the back line held firm and the midfielders formed a triangle in front of them forcing Barca to play square balls for most of the game.
Barca don’t like that they expect you to play formation which allows then to attack you through the centre of your defence. However our midfielders made that nearly impossible by forming that triangle in the middle.
As expected Barca had about 70% of the play but we exposed their weakness with the first goal with them watching as Victor made a great run onto Mulgrew’s cross and had all the time in the world to pick his spot.
As for the second half it’s just a blur. Celtic had sussed Barca out then stiffened the midfield with Kayal. However whilst most managers would maybe have brought on another midfield packer Lenny put on Tony Watt a signal that he wanted to win the game. Tony played like most young players with absolutely no fear and as I said earlier scored the kind of goal Henrik would have scored. Tony still has a lot to learn but he has guys like Sammy, Hooper, Stokes, Miku to learn from. At the end of the day he done his job, dragged the Barca centre halfs all over the park and scored.
Where the ref found 4 mins added on time from I don’t know but in the end it was all to late for Barcelona.
Barca will run over the top of any team but we proved tonight if they want to do that to us they better work harder,
Thanks Neil and the team, One of the proudest night as a Celtic fan…meanwhile in Division 3 ha ha
