Only In Scotland

Yep, that term again, “Only In Scotland”

Only In Scotland would something happen against a certain football team and the offending player get a slap on the wrist.

Everyone remember Majhid Bougherra and Callum Murray at the game the Scottish media and political figures classed as “The Shame Game”?

Remember when Bougherra man-handled the referee NOT ONCE but on two separate occasions and whilst being sent off he was faced coming out of the disciplinary hearing with El Hadj “Spit” Diouf smiling and joking as they got a measly telling off.

Everyone remember that game?

The actions of many and how the only person disciplined was Celtic manager Neil Lennon.

Well ONLY IN SCOTLAND rears it’s head once more as it would appear another former player of Rangers FC thought that because this was ACCEPTABLE in Scotland, he’d do it in another country.

Dorin Goian, plays currently in Italy’s Serie B. he’s on loan from SevCo.

It would appear that Goian took action towards a referee and has been banned for 4 matches.

Imagine if he was still playing in Scotland? The media would have him as a player of the year candidate.

ONLY IN SCOTLAND!

It would appear it is NOT only in Scotland from your story. However, it could well be that the Scottish disease is spreading into Europe now. To be honest, going by some of the decisions I have witnessed over many years in Europe, it might well be that the Scottish bug has simply been incubating till now.

By the way, if you have a read of Paul Larkin’s “By Any Means Necessary”, I think you may find the disease has two virulent forms, one infecting players of a certain club and the other ALL referees. The only known cure till now, is being better than the 15man opposition. Big Jock always maintained his teams had to be ready to play 14 every game (there was no 4th official in those days. Thank God or Jock might not have won as much as he did).
