Transfer of Moonbeams

Now before I start, I’m normally not one to go off on one about Rangers, Sevco or whatever you may call them. This rant is more to do with the MSM and this that know me will confirm my disliking for the newspapers especially in this country. With that, I’ll begin.
Over the years we as Celtic fans have witnessed many a story coming from Ibrokes which has as much holes coming from it than cutting of Acme cheese.
We’ve all heard and read of the story about the Ibrokes redevelopment which will have the audacious hover pitch, yes?
We’ve all heard the one about the Motherwell Multi Billionaire right?
It would appear that should you be a leading figure for Rangers or the current occupants of Ibrokes Sevco5088 that you are given free access the pages of the Scottish rags.
Current occupant, mouthpiece for SevCo5088 Charles Green is further proof of this. Many an open quote has been aired by Green and although many a question would arise from his comments, not many are actually asked.
It would appear that the old paranoia in me is creeping out again with me thinking that no matter what nonsense comes from a custodian at Ibrokes, the media in this country will happily accept without questioning.
Take Daily Rectum and Clyde Superscoreboard mouthpiece Hugh Keevins for example. Even his colleague on the football phone in Mark Guidi has said the same – The problem with the likes of Murray, Whyte & Green is that they will only provide time to a selected few. This I can understand but why should that stop such “journalists” from raising questions within the very same articles that they use to publicise such stories?
We’ve had our fair share of laughs through these “Moonbeams” over the years though, haven’t we?
The hover pitch was a belter. The signings of Messi & Ronaldo ha remember those?
It would appear though that those that have the keys to the doors of Ibrokes are provided with the task of – Keep Scottish football laughing and the newspapers especially are happy to assist.
Through this season we’ve had
Daily Record – “Rangers chief Charles Green set to announce strip deal with giants Adidas” That said it would happen in September. Still not happened.
Daily Record – “Rangers will be financially stronger than Celtic in a year, claims Charles Green” Still waiting on the EXCLUSIVE about Sevco5088 currently running at a loss.
Scottish Sun – “I’ll build a bigger Ibrox” The headline in this speaks for itself. The whole article is MSM Propaganda and not one hint of a raised question. Take into consideration that Green is quoted as saying
“The cash they used for the naming rights of St James’ Park was used to acquire Demba Ba.
“That is an illustration that, if you can use the money well, it will bring further money in.”
Anyone with the savvy of using Google could easily pick out that Demba Ba was purchased way before the deal with Sports Direct so again the rags in this country through their inability to do research show themselves and SevCo up.
So what is the real reason why they’re prepared to do this?
We all know that the newspaper game has never before seen such harsh times. Take the Daily Rectum for example – Daily newspaper sales were down 25,000 over the year ending Dec 2012. It’s “sister” newspaper dropped 5% in a single month from 308,000 to 293,000.
So with a Celtic support which has largely been anti newspapers, why would they want to lose a substantial percentage of their readership by questioning the main reason a newspaper is bought in the first place?
Anyone outside Ibrokes that supports Scottish football realises that partly the reason for the downfall of Rangers 1872 is the simple fact not enough questions were being asked by those in a position to do so. Although I’m happy for this to continue, it’s alarming that some Celtic fans continue to fund such newspapers who are only focussed on keeping an element of its readership by printing what is now classed as SevCo5088 propaganda.

  1. I don’t buy chipshop rappers these churnalists couldn’t come up with a meaningful question between them. They never point out in every single chuckles green statement he contradicts himself it just so sad that the special handshake brigade get get away with printing constant lies.

  3. Sad to say that the reason that the Daily Rectum still exists is because their is still a sizeable amount of Celtic supporters who buy it on a daily basis. WHY? Because they see it as the only show in town. No alternative! Even though their is the internet and Celtic news many are of the old school of getting their news from the rags and that keeps their ugly toxic heads above the water.
If everyone of us who knew someone who bought these urine soaked toilet papers spent a bit of time showing them how easy it was to get onto the internet for their news the gutter rags would sink into oblivion.
Its only a matter of time before it happens anyway but let us all do our bit for Scottish football against these sevco cess-pits and hasten their day of reconing.

  5. i stopped buying that rag ages ago and i no longer listen to supersnore board as it’s the same oul crap about division 3 they devote their phone in to the dead club and get all defensive if you slag it off, i’m beginning to wonder is the pensioner keevins and co all on the sevco payroll ?

  7. I genuinly don’t buy the rags, and many Celtic fans do. I guess it is choice. How many buy a Sun and a Daily Record to read at lunchtime? or in a works van, etc. Many read it online. I do from time to time and if the story is so outragous I use Tweetlonger to post the story, so I am never giving them credit.
The more Celtic fans that stop buying into the lies, means the less they will lie perhaps. And when the day comes social media sites become more popular, I won’t shed a tear for the rags. Many can’t sit at a computer all day, so buy the rags.
Something we have to try harder not to do.

Going by some comments, I am ever so glad I have not bought A PAPER of any sort in thirty years or more. I learned from personal experience that journalists have an insidious way of using the English language to turn actual into interpretation in such a way that it reads the opposite. One can never believe a word they write because it is often not what was actually said. Legal loopholes and surreptitious editing is employed to twist and misinterpret as well as provide safe cover and camouflage against challenge.
There are certain areas of the public domain where such technical tactics come into their own viz. politics, entertainment, royalty and sport to name but a few. In Scotland, there is no question that football journalism is not only into the system but at its zenith. It is among the most unprofessional and manipulative of the press and media and it is clearly biased. And it is unashamedly biased by neglect as much as by prejudice. In the case of old Rangers, new Rangers and the events, personalities and issues surrounding them, the media bias has been laid bare as much, if not more so, by the questions not asked as by the promotional slants of their stories. Mr. green has been allowed to fart and burp as loud and as often as he might wish and in whatever company he chooses with not so much as a basic “pardon me”. He has accomplished the feat of sh***ting all over the place without even being asked to drop his trousers and certainly not to pick it up. I would be tempted to have some pity for those who have had to suffer the sight and the smell, but they seem not only not to mind but to actually wallow in the mess.
The day of come-upance may well be at hand and all the loose paper lying around will not be nearly enough to clean the residue from Charlie’s a**se. There will be a trail of silver-lined sh*t all the way to Yorkshire and, perhaps, even beyond. As for the press, if I were in their shoes I would seriously look at buying into the toilet role and holder game. It will probably be the only place their redundant rags will find a home. As for the other media, sound and vision, well, they will surely find some other source of garbage. Why should they change now after decades of producing tons of it?

    1. Good afternoon PB. I had a busy day, yesterday, so only had time to pop in, have a wee dig, and pop out again. The press in this country are not to be taken seriously. Although at an extremely laughable level, the Sunday and Daily Sport(are they still available?) Proves this. There is the women’s pages, tv, music, fashion, gossip, politics, etc. Neither of these pages provide anything other than Terry Wogan-ness. If you have more than a passing interest in any of these subjects, chances are, you will read a specialist mag. The football pages in Scotland are written by these Terry Wogans, unquestioningly and unresearched. The assumption that they are pedalling to an uneducated audience who cannot smell BS is wrong, and this has made them lazy and complacent. Krajski is right to question this, but until a specialist rag, providing proper “news” based on fact, quotes and truths, the situation will continue. The bias is easily explained away when their laziness is explored. They will print whoever feeds them, ..The team with the most propoganda to air! If Lawell fed them that Celtic, are moving from paradise due to a rich vein of 24 carat found beneath the centre circle. So rich, it will finance a 150K seater, all singing n dancing new stadium, and throw forth a $500m warchest, and free entry to all games! It would be printed. Fortunately our football does the talking, and is spoken of. Unlike Sevco.! The SFA are probably best placed to produce such a specialist rag(maybe sub-contracted), as all facts need to pass through their hands, I.e. transfers, results, bookings, refs decisions, complaints, appeals etc. I think they are missing a trick, and it would certainly outstrip anything the msm can produce! I would probably subscribe, and don’t think I would be alone. Proper insider news, and the msm wiped out in one fell swoop. Worth thinking about.
