The Unwashed and The Somewhat Slightly Dazed

celtic network badgeTo make a play on an old Bowie song. I’m firmly in the slightly dazed camp here. I had actually predicted on Wednesday night what the outcome of Lord Nimmo Smiths report so really the question is why was I shocked at the outcome? Probably because even if you know and have known for decades that something you hold dear is corrupt having that reality placed in front of you finally brings it home. It’s not a great consolation that you were right all along.
I grew up living and breathing Scottish Football and especially Celtic Football Club. Like many my team and my sport was central to my life and well being. To see that all placed on the altar of self interest and sacrificed in the name of one cheating club is frankly sickening. The fact that my club or the PLC that are there to protect our team says nothing is even more sickening. Our club have lost out on potential millions from UEFA and winning leagues and cups. Surely they must make a statement of intent. I hope they do.
So oldco cheated for nine years and where fined £50,000 less than Celtic were fined for ‘tapping up’ Tommy Burns is nothing short of disgusting. After reading the explanations by Paul McConvill on how they beat the system it looks more like the system beat it’s self. The explanation that they did not gain a competitive advantage is a legally tied up lie. Anyone with a brain in their head can see the advantage they gained through signing players they could not in fact afford. If you need any more proof I suggest you check out the blog on Maley’s Bhoys. (Link at bottom of page)
Poor rules, regulations and administrative mismanagement by so called football authorities has led us to this sad day. Did Scottish Football die on 28/02/2013 ? Probably not but feelings that it was run for the benefit of all member clubs certainly did. It is now clear that many in positions of power in our football associations are willing to fuck over their own clubs to protect the Establishment club whether it be oldco or newco. Fans from most clubs were raging yesterday not just Celtic Fans but the Scottish media only went to Celtic Park to seek opinion in an attempt to polarise this despicable business into a Celtic v Newco debate. It’s nothing of the sort but that’s where the Scottish media would like it to be about. This way you can dismiss the dissenters as Tims with a grudge rather than the truth that most Scottish football fans are appalled at the outcome of LNS.
Over the years the media in this country have bent over backwards to protect their club that’s nothing new. What is new is the level of sycophancy they will stoop to. The perfect example is Mr Charles Green being allowed to spout out aggressive statement after aggressive statement unchallenged by our media darlings. Last week Newco fans disgraced themselves once again but strangely no one in the Scottish media could find him to challenge him on the bile coming from his support. Yesterday as if by magic they all found Charles again and freely gave him a platform to talk utter nonsense and once again it went unchallenged.
So where does this leave me? Well it’s quite simple really. I won’t be attending any domestic games involving Celtic until either Scottish football governing bodies are replace by 1 fit for purpose organisation or Celtic leave Scottish football. I will not throw good money after bad at Scottish Football when I can use it to take my wife on a holiday.
Let me make my position very clear to those who may feel I am deserting my Team.
I live and breathe Celtic I have followed the club from the first Celtic game I went to which was the European Cup semi final in 1970. I have since then followed the team all over Europe and domestically and have spent a small fortune on that but I do not begrudge 1 penny it has been magnificent. I have held a season ticket since 1980 when I had a ticket book for the West terracing and Enclosure (Celtic end and The Jungle). That ended this season because I could not afford one but I have still been to plenty of games when I have the money. No one should doubt my commitment and love for Celtic Football Club and especially the manager ,players and fellow supporters.
Unfortunately football has changed over the past 25 years and greed has raised its ugly head. That does not sit comfortably with me but I still followed my team however yesterday was the final straw and I will not throw good money after bad propping up disgraced football administrations and the cheats who hold office within them. Quite simply for the time being I’m out but I’m still committed 100% to this site and to the team. Please note I am NOT asking anyone to follow my lead it is very important that every Celtic Supporter makes up their own mind and more importantly we all respect each other’s decisions.
Hail Hail
James.

Since that wankstain from Embra blew onto the scene in the 80’s the game has all about died a horrible death. In the 80’s we had Aberdeen, dundee utd and Hertz filling grounds up and down the country… they had good scottish players and won in Europe as well… that all changed in the 90’s and the national team is a joke as well now.. everyone knows when, how and who changed it… they are dead now and the MOFO who fired the first round thinks he is now a champion of fine wines….. with the LNS excuse for a report and guilty but not proven type verdict i bid the whole sorry circus adios…. They even hired two total incompetents from England to give an air of neutrality… but when you have a look at their CV’s its a wonder they are let out alone without help. as some one once said tehy couldnt run a menage… well can only thing is we all contribute but only one club got a turn…

  3. I have gone just about as far as I can patience wise with those who wear a certain colour tie. Yesterdays decision to rub every decent Scottish football fan’s nose in the mud by allowing Sevco to get away with cheating was the final straw. Very soon the SPL and the SFA will realise that we the fans will no longer stump up the hard earned every week just to keep them in a job.

  5. Can’t disagree with anything you say in this blog, As of yesterday I’ve went from being a Celtic supporter to being a Celtic fan. Why throw my money away on a rigged game ? If PL comes out with a statement thats in line with what the fans demand I would consider still attending , saying nothing tells me they dont have a problem with it . A truly sad day for Scotland. (although not a surprise)

  7. Completely with you Jas. Unless Celtic come out with a statement confirming that a) we recognise Rangers FC as having ceased to be in 2012, b) the club condemns in the strongest possible terms the governance of the game in Scotland, and c) the club intends legally challenging Rangers and, if applicable, Sevco for the monies robbed from our club. As a PLC, there is no way we can sit and watch as a guaranteed £15m for automatic group stage entry in the CL has gone elsewhere when it rightly belonged to us.
Anything short of that and I’m out.

  9. Already came to this conclusion yesterday, will not be renewing my season ticket and will not put another penny into Scottish football until Celtic bale out or the Mickey Mouse authorities are replaced. Scottish football has become the laughing stock of the world. I will continue to do Celtic pools and buy Merch, and will donate any money I would have spent on tickets next season directly to the club.

  11. I cant believe this. You clearly state that you knew the game was bent towards to the dark forces but only now you are throwing the dummy out and acting like a petulant child – ma baw! This is the time when we all have to stand shoulder to shoulder to ensure that we remain strong and continue winning the Celtic way. Not going back is a cop out and thats a fact. We should be proud of what we achieved with a straight bat and knowing we had to be better to get an even call makes us what we are. Walking away is what they do not us. Walking away will help them so is that what you want?

    1. If your happy spending your money only to KNOW your getting cheated , best of luck to you. If Celtic were playing and the SFA weren’t entitled to gate receipts etc. I would still go………. but to have to PAY THE SFA so they can just cheat you is retarded imho……… hey ho each to their own I suppose ps HAIL HAIL (with a tele control in ma hand from now on )

  13. I want to see all SPL Fans coming together for one weekend And refusing to attend any SPL Games that weekend to show that this decision is unacceptable, With a clear strong message that the Leaders off the SFA And SPL must go. This will send a clear message to clubs that they must stop up for the right of the game and not bend over and take whatever the administrators of our game give them.

  15. I was not interested in stripped titles or heavy fines, since that team is dead, but I would have liked to have seen this situation dealt with in an adult and just fashion, but I live to be disappointed yet again. The only time justice was done throughout this farrago was when the fans of all the rest of Scottish senior football said ‘no the rules must be followed’, even then the Zombies got into SFL 3 without the proper documentation at the expense of Spartans. I am now convinced that football in Scotland has been dealt a blow, both morally and to its credibility, that will bring about it’s downfall. The SPL’s actions last year and the SFA’s this year have shown the non bluenose fan that the game is being solely for the benefit of one club and one club only.

  17. Celtic have now made an official statement on the LNS judgement and I hope, in the light of this, everyone gets back behind the club. I commend the statement. Short of calling the LNS decision a bag of shite, the club have officially expressed the same views as the rest of us.
This statement is a bold move. It will be pounced on by the MSM and flaunted as evidence of The Rangers hatery that exists at Celtic Park. The Celtic board will have realised that and have issued it regardless so well done them. For the record, I am no great fan of the Celtic board in general but credit where it’s due.
James, I hope you and others reconsider. Stand together and support the team, support our club. Let the other lot cheat if they want, let the conrolling authorities condone it, we’ll beat them anyway. Get it right up them all.
    Hail Hail.

    1. Sorry can’t agree with you there. That statement from Celtic is about as strong as fat Sally saying that his club was “disapointed” with the fans singing

      1. I think the Celtic statement is as strongly worded as can be in the circumstances. The meaning is clear enough.
If it was me making the statement I’d have said that the system is corrupt to the core and run by a shower of DOBs and that cheating on an industrial scale has been swept under the carpet. But it isn’t, so I won’t.

        1. I think your right it is as strongly worded as it can be. It must be taken into account that the club can only say so much for political reasons. However there is more than one way to skin a cat mate. This is just the beginning and that’s a promise 😉 I can assure you I might miss the games but I won’t miss the fight. #HH

          1. We can’t punish Celtic for the failings of others. That is my view on this highly emotive subject.
Scottish football has been butt f*cked for decades and this mind boggling LNS decision reinforces the establishment clubs demanded inherent right to preferential treatment. The Sevco followers are celebrating large and will be out in droves filling Charlies coffers and spreading their version of joy (Berwick, for example) wherever they go.
It is wrong. It stinks. The SFA are a disgrace. We’ve known this for years. It is now known globally. This story has a long way to go before it ends.
Celtic FC need us to back them now, more than ever.
