Do Scottish Fans Really Want Change ?

Dear fellow Scottish Football Supporters,
Time for a good rant I think. I’ll make my position clear. I love Celtic Football Club, I also love Scottish football. For all its failings I find it more attractive to watch than a lot of the fodder served up down south. However due to what I see a  corrupted system of governance which appears to have wiped away any pretence of fair play I can no longer financially support such a system. Therefore until we have a total structural change in who runs our game and the way it is run I will not be spending one thin dime on Scottish football.
Now this is a heartbreaker for it means I won’t be attending any Celtic games which after 40 years plus was a hard decision to take. I don’t ask anyone to follow my lead as that is a personal decision everyone should make for themselves. That does not mean I will not financially support my club. I am happy to spend the equivalent amount of money on Celtic merchandise. I will also through this site and social media work with ANY other Scottish football supporters who want to change the current set up and protect the future of OUR game. What I can’t support is the notion supporting the status quo  and standing by idly while Scottish football dies.
Yesterday we ran an article calling for Scottish football supporters to try and claim back OUR game. All the article asked for was that fans concerned with the governance of our game contact FIFA and let them know of their concerns. Something that would only take 5-10 minutes of anyone’s time. We provided a direct link to the FIFA page however despite over 2,500 people reading the article up until now only 30 people have even clicked on the link.
Later on we added a direct link to a petition on Twitter started by someone else calling for UEFA and FIFA to take a look at the running of OUR game. So far in the past 18 hours only 136 people have bothered to sign it.
So it would appear despite all the gum bumping from Scottish fans about how corrupt the game is and how they want change Apathy seems to be winning the day. I personally find that appalling but not surprising. Apathy in general is rife in this country. Everyone moans but always expects someone else to fix the problems.
So in short it’s time for Scottish Football supporters to put up or shut up !
Below are the two links we printed yesterday. It’s now up to you to do what you feel is right.

  1. I have to apologise for my tardiness in signing the petition, got side tracked.
Have signed the petition just now. Was in the process of your reading your blog, then somebody shouted about white smoke in Rome and I forgot about everything else sorry, Jas. All signed now thanks for the reminder. You may have to send out another reminder, yesterday would have distracted a lot of Celtic supporters. If we as fans of Scottish football in general do not make use of this complaints facility then certain factions will make sure that the SPL/SFL will continue to favour one team and one team only. There surely must be enough evidence now for FIFA to look into the way the game is run in Scotland. Then there is this keech the BBC came out with about Celtic and the Zombies leaving Scottish football. Celtic surely can’t be contemplating this. They are near enough guaranteed Euro action every year, they have a healthy home support and they have to make the decision whether it is better for Celtic supporters attending Parkhead and spending money there or spending on money travelling to away games, because the Celtic support do like to travel and having to pick and choose what games to attend. What is this nonsense about colt teams too, are other teams incapable of bringing on talent? The Celtic board have to realise the amount of money they are asking fans to part with if this kind of change goes through. Talk about killing the goose that laid the golden egg. And the Zombies, well to tell the truth who would have them?

  3. I clicked the link but it never took me anywhere so I went on to the FIFA website and it wasn’t on the mobile site but I got there in the end and put my complaint about the governance of Scottish football forward

  5. Thanks for giving me a voice. The MSM, SFA, SPL and SFL are all a joke. Infested by one clubs ex directors or supporters who want to remain with the WATP tag. We are on the verge of change thanks to the internet bambots.
Once all of the above are removed then we can then start to rebuild Scottish football to what it once was (a very proud sport full with great passion) not what we have now a vile corrupt game as a result of one bigoted club with a sick sectarian history (which was tolerated in this wee country) that would shame any decent fan world wide.
I want FIFA, UEFA and fans around the whole world to know of this shameful club and the lengths our corrupt sporting leaders will go to to maintain and preserve this bile.
I thank every fan in Scotland for standing as one against this issue last summer and as one we can do it again to benefit our game. Football without fans………………… we know the rest. It is our game and together we have the power to keep it an even sport for all.

  7. I’m more than happy to sign up for the cause . 2 things prevented me too, point 1 … the link to the fifa site I feel it would be better put forward by some one more in line with writing the type of material like this blog for instance =). Point 2 , the twitter 1 I was about to sign , then in order to sign it you have to sign up to the app (if that’s the right word) which then asks for permission to see everything you tweet, who you are following and some times tweet on your behalf?. Is there not something we can do that just lets us sign a petition , just providing name / email to show you support the cause ?

    1. were just trying anything just now mate. There is better ways to do things but we need a decent body of fans from across Scottish football to at least indicate they are interested in a full blown campaign. Sadly people like your good self are in short supply.

      1. Think people put off signing by the part that allows permission to read their tweets/ contacts etc. That can easily be revoked by clicking setting on twitter and then revoke, stops that from happening.

  9. You can sign in/register, then click your twitter applications in settings, then click revoke. That then stops allowing entry to your tweets etc.. Thought that might be reason why many have not signed. Perhaps informing people of that under link in blog may assist those who wish too but are put off by it.
