All The Best To Stiliyan Petrov

The Celtic Network would like to send our best wishes to Stiliyan and his family on the announcement of his retirement.
I was fortunate to know Stan for several years and as anyone will tell you he is a great guy, very decent. We first met shortly after he joined Celtic and on that occasion in his home he very kindly gave my daughter one of the first signed pictures from a batch that had just been delivered. She treasures that pic to this day.
At that point Stan had an interpreter, I only wish I could remember his name because he was a top guy as well. As everyone knows Stan went on to make himself an integral part of Martin of first Joseph Venglos then Martin O’Neill’s  teams before heading to Aston Villa after a spell under WGS.
As a player the highest compliment I can pay his is that for his age at Celtic he was the best box to box midfielder I have seen. His 55 goals are testament to that. Being honest we have still not replaced him.
So thank you Stan.
We wish you all the best and a long healthy life.
This is for you Stan. Hail, Hail 🙂

  1. In my opinion Stan was a great asset to the club, who was rightly loved by the fans and who, obviously loved Celtic and it’s fans right back. He was truly Celtic class and his enthusiasm could not be faulted. We do could do with more of that kind of commitment in future signings. Good luck to Stan for now and the future.
    Hail, Hail for Stan Petrov.
