Willie Wallace – Heart Of A Lion – TCN Promotion Piece

Willie_Wallace_coverWillie is a very self effacing bloke and he has a great story to tell.
He grew up in Kirkintilloch, played schools football, boys brigade football, junior Football with Kilsyth Rangers before turning professional as a part time teenager with Stenhousemuir.
He was spotted by Raith Rovers who offered him full time terms– and there he played with the likes of Jim Baxter, Denis Mochan ( Neilly’s brother ), Alfie Conn senior ( a Hearts legend ) and various others. From RR he went to Hearts where he was the club’s top scorer for every year he was there.
Then came Celtic.
In the space of 6 weeks Willie won every major honour going and played at Wembley where Scotland beat England by 3 goals to 2.
The book deals with the mysteries of his transfer to and from Celtic.
There is a long bio piece by CQN writer  Brogan Rogan Trevino and Hogan which concentrates on Willie’s unbelievable part in getting Celtic to Lisbon– without him Celtic would never have gotten to the final.
The book also looks at Dukla Prague and Inter Milan in depth– assessing how good their players were– and the strange events surrounding the later years of the Inter team.
There are contributions from Archie McPherson, Pat Woods and a forward by Rod Stewart.
The book takes an unusual format– but it is a bloody good read, with the different parts and styles complimenting one another.
Willie will be in Scotland for a couple of weeks to do some promotions, play some golf– and play more golf !

The book itself will be on the shelves of the Celtic Shop and Waterstones etc on 24th May– just before the cup final.
