2014 A Year For Reconciliation
Well a Happy New Year to you all.
So last year was quite good for the club. Last 16 of the champions league along with a League and cup double thrown in for good measure. Off the park a fantastic financial performance which allowed us to spend around £11m in the transfer market, drop the price of season tickets, install wi- fi and upgrade facilities for kids and our disabled fans. On the football front the downside was poor recruitment and a very poor Champions league campaign, oh and a brass neck in the league cup.
We also had issues off the field regarding sections of the support, mainly the Green Brigade, the living wage and the major question of why our club have not went through the SFA like a ton of bricks regarding Rangers FC (IL) illegal entry into the CL in 2011.
The above have caused splits in the support and unfortunately some of it has been nasty and vindictive. I have had time to think things over during my wee break and my honest opinion a lot of this stuff could have been solved through better communication between different parties involved.
Quite frankly and I’ve said this for years. Celtic’s PR is very poor, their engagement with the vast majority of the support is basically nonexistent. The appointment of John Paul Taylor was a step in the right direction. John Paul is a great guy who does a good job, but I sometimes get the feeling he’s stuck in the middle with thankless task. I tip my hat to him because it’s not a job I would touch with a bargepole. As for the Green Brigade, I have told senior members that their PR is stinking and therefore at times they can be their own worst enemies. Both Celtic and the Green Brigade really need to get their communications sorted out. Otherwise the SMSM will just do what they love doing which is to run us into the ground.
Both Celtic and The Green Brigade do fantastic work in the community. Therefore I hope they can get around the table and sort out their differences.
We supporters in general could do with the club communicating to us, where reasonably possible how far down the line we are re: pursuing the illegal entry of Rangers (IL) in to Europe in 2011. Also why we have not tried to get compensation for the millions lost due to Rangers(IL) financially doping the game in Scotland for almost 20 years.
So it’s my wish that we can open up better lines of communication between us all this year and get on with enjoying what should be the best time ever to be a Celtic fan.
Finally a friendly word of warning. Whether you are a good friend of mine or not I will be blocking any of this sites followers on Twitter etc who indulge in calling fellow supporters, panty wetter’s, board lackeys, C*nts, republican scum, fans who get on their high horse and think they are better than any of the rest of us or make any personal attacks on our fellow fans regardless of the circumstances.
We are not that other mob…. WE ARE CELTIC.
