Lethal Celtic wipe floor with Saints

Commons with a diving header for 3-0 to win the game

Neil Lennon asked for more energy today and the first 45 minutes the players showed nothing, maybe the players had Turkey on their minds, Celtic hit the post twice in the first half through Commons and Mulgrew. Ambrose can make mistakes but the Celtic defence was superb today, they held tight and Van Dijk was just Superb and Forster had little to do. In the first half the Celtic midfield 2, Brown and Ledley were losing the ball and struggling with 10 yard passes and that was the first half

The second half was much, much better, it took Celtic 8 minutes to score and what a goal it was, Matthews got the ball from Ledley 30 yards out on the wing and went for a run, he kept going beating man after man and found himself in the box, he got turned but still managed to find Mulgrew with a back heal and what a goal by Mulgrew, body strength was superb, he turned his man with one touch then passed the ball home, brilliant team goal, and 1-0

2-0 came 5 minutes later when Commons gave the ball to Ledley, Ledley took a few strides  forward, seen Stokes on the edge of the box and passed him in, Stokes looked up and had a man in front of him, took a side step and passed a curling shot into the far post, again a brilliant goal, Stokes 100th goal for Celtic and 2-0

At this stage Celtic had moves up a gear and were fluent in play, getting the ball wide to both flanks and playing through the middle making like very hard for a battling St Mirren side, Brown and Commons both had superb shots going into the top right of goal saved brilliantly by Kello in goal for St Mirren who just could not get going in the 2nd half

3-0 to Celtic came in 69 minutes, the ball was  given to Izzy wide left he had times to look up and delivered a superb cross for Commons to get his 50th goal for Celtic with a brilliant diving header. Game winner and game over with 20 minutes to go, Celtic were probing St Mirren all over the defence and it was only a matter of time before more goal came and more chances were made

The final goal of the game a few minutes later and this time Forrest was the provider and Lennon will be delighted today all his wide men were involved in goals as well as the Strikers getting on the score sheet. Forrest got the ball wide, had time to look up and find Commons who smashed a BRILLAINT shot high into the goal for his 2nd of the game and again another well worked goal

We can see what Lenny and his coaching staff are working on is working on the park, when we get going we are just superb, after three 1-0 wins and criticism, unfairly from some Celtic fans going 20 games unbeaten in the league is hard to do, we can’t win every game like today

Lennon: Delighted with the second half, wide men were good and good to keep a clean sheet. It is important to get away for a break now and the consistency of the side has been superb. New players may be in by the next SPL game we are trying hard to get players in

We take the 3 points today, same as we did after the three 1-0 wins
