Green Brigade statement

The Green Brigade will not be renewing our season tickets at this moment in time.

We’d advise all of those within the section 111 to also not renew until we have some clarity re the Huns Newco. situation and also until we’ve had the opporuntiy for us all to discuss this.
We will have a section meeting very shortly where we can discuss all of this.

Comments

  1. My only worry about that is will Celtic use this as an opportunity to split you all up? Celtic Park will be a very dull place if that is the case.

  3. My thoughts exactly, i hold two ST’s and will also be holding back until justice is done. Hope many thousand of individual’s like myself do like wise.

  5. I’m happy to renew, but will not be attending any away games. Will travel to cup games against lower league opposition but killie, st mirren, st johnstone et al can forget me attending there ground!

I know that you guys are very much the biggest contributers to the parkhead atmosphere.I love watching you guys at parkhead and your support is unrivaled. So i would ask that you really consider this greatly whether the huns get back in or not dont let that effect us lets stick together and support the club no matter what happens.Dont let those cunts ruffle our great support.

  9. I sit in Section 111, not a member of GB though. I too am looking for celtic to clarify the position that they will take regarding newco – though looking at season ticket renewal forms and the fact its £80 more expensive to buy a ticket with those games included, I assume Mr Lawell will be voting to have them back into the SPL.
Can I ask what it is the GB want, is it clarity on Celtics postion, or for the board to go publicly like John Yorkston of Dunfermline, and remove them from SPL.

  11. I would like to thank the green brigade for their stance on the cheating by Rangers and the SFA/SPL. I would hope the club now have the courage to make it known we wont stand for this blatant corruption.

  13. Welldone Bhoys and Ghirls, it’s this type of action which is needed! There’s fans of other clubs out there uniting in this cause with us.We need to put our differences and rivalries aside to fight for what is morally right in our game. If we don;t the whole things slides into damnation with no hope of ever salvaging anything positive from it again. It’s making a mockery of us to the wider world. I say we should be organising a peaceful protest ( A march to Hampden of our own) with all other teams welcome to attend in their respective colours. A day not about rivalry but about unity to show that for some of us, basic decency is still the thing of utmost importance in our game and not money. The game and the love of football and the carrying out of that football in a fair and honest manner on a level playing field is and always should be what matters above all else. Not the coorporate suits of the clubs and their money making drives but simply the fans and the fans collective ideology of sporting integrity above all else.

  15. People say we would only be punishing our own club, and we may not get the outcome that alot of us wish for when the voting take place, but Peter Lawell must make the clubs position public to US the fans, as we are custodians of the club and the decisions he makes he does on our behalf, and the money he spends is OUR money.

  17. I am in the same position as most honest football fans in Scotland. Totally gobsmacked that money can be a bigger priority to the Scottish Fame than sporting integrity and fair competition. Is this not the route that the previous Chairman and Owner took to deliver his Club to Liquidation the infamous every fiver and tenner rule of business.
I love Celtic my fellow supporters and I live to see us beating Rangers when we play them. But I don’t see why they should be in the SPL if they have broken the rules. TIME to Hear from our CLUB.

  19. Go get them bhoys. The powers that be within our club must reflect our wishes.. I usually kit myself and my grandson out in the new kits but I will buy nothing until know how our board will react to this scandal

  21. I can understand why people are doing this, however my opinion is that not renewing you ST isn’t the best way, I am a Celtic supporter and will be supporting my club next season at Celtic park, regardless of what’s going on elsewhere this will always be the case. What I won’t be doing is going to cup games or away games if the newco is allowed in the spl that will be my protest I won’t punish my team at home and take any money out of my club from withdrawing my season ticket. And if the green brigade follow through with this protest then celtic park will be quieter place and will probably be split up…which will be a greater travesty to Celtic than a newco.

  23. Im a season ticket holder who travels every week from Aberdeen and I can honestly say people up north want justice to as they have got a great petition going. These chairmen MUST represent the fans at this end of May meeting.

  25. i really dont know what you want the club to do, go publicly like John Yorkston of Dunfermline, and remove them from SPL.I mean when he made that statement he had nothing to loose he is only trying to save his own skin,if it were HIBS that were going down would he be saying that?, if it is a matter of just saying we dont support RFC staying in the SPL well why not just say it and every one is happy we know the clubs stance but withdrawing support is wrong NO TO NEWCO a big YES

  27. By not renewing you’re only hurting the club you profess to love so much.
I will renew but wont go to ANY away games, that includes The Govan Dodgers delapidated stadium.
    NO TO NEWCO
    YES TO CELTIC

    1. And what if the club we love help out a club who have cheated football fans for years? This is an ethical issue as much as anything else. The whole future of our game is at stake here.

  29. Guys, can I say I believe this is the wrong course of action, if I’m out on a limb here so be it. Until recently I would have agreed with you but I believe we should unite behind Celtic. If we want to punish anyone it should be the other 11 Clubs or at least the Clubs who don’t vote against a newco, don’t take you’re angst out on Celtic. Celtic FC cannot affect this one way or another on their own regardless of their stance. Simply refuse to go to away games, League or Cups, why should we hit our club in the pocket.
Again until recently I was of the opinion the PW should come out and make a statement, as recently as the last adjournment. However I’m of the belief now that if he does then the spotlight will turn on us and we’ll be the bad guys, regardless of how morally right we are. There’s only one Club in the wrong just now, we don’t need the spotlight on us or give any reason to deflect criticism onto us because that’s what will happen.

    1. I can assure you nobody wants to Punish our own club,
BUT WE WANT OUR CHIEF EXEC TO REPRESENT OUR POINT OF VIEW.
If Lawell makes a public statement saying the club wont support admission to SPL of a newco, that will do for me. If the other clubs vote them back in so be it, those grounds will not receive a penny of my money… But i will not renew my season book until the club makes there position public.

      1. James do you believe PW/Board is in agreement with the Fans at the moment or do you think he is complicit in all of this?

  31. Reading the comments you would think the Celtic hierarchy have said nothing!!! I recall BOTH NFL and PL telling all and sundry ‘WE DON’T NEED RANGERS’
How clear do you want them to be???

  33. Good on you all, it was fan power that help to get rid of the Kelly’s and save this club.
I once heard a story, when a guy asks a shop steward “what does the union think?” to which he replied “YOU are the union!”
‘Fans YOU are the club’ remember that, hail hail.

  35. No matter what PL comes out and says he is going to be slated he is stuck between the proverbial rock,he can’t win. You say his silence is deafining but its probably the best policy for now don’t hold money back from the club its important for our success HH

  37. James, you make a very strange argument but its your money so you make the choice BUT…
…we have seen what happens to our manager for having the temerity to NIsh and catholic and vocal and good at his job!
PL will be making all the right noises behind the scenes why put his head out to be literally shot at!!!
There’s a strong rumour that Celtic will put their notice in to leave the SPHell as they are assured of a place in another league. Uefa won’t stand in our way after NEWCO due to incompetence from governing body.
    You heard it first

  39. I would agree with the first comment. Although things are very very frustrating with the silence from Celtic, I think we should wait until we hear ALL the other arguements and comments before we jump the gun. The best way to act is to have a boycott of the “For” voting clubs and ALL games at the national stadium “where the S.F.A. make their money”. The “GreenBrigade” are now world famous for the atmosphere and humour they bring to Parkhead, their Banners are legend. Please don’t do anything to hurt Celtic, I will support you any way I can in every thing you do to “Bury the huns”. Please open your doors to “armchair G.B. members” I live in Manchester so had to give up my season ticket due to two serious Heart attacks so my wife wont let me travel. God Bless each and every one of you, you are the highlight of my game. Keep up the splendid work and let me know where I can buy your merchandise. Hail Hail, Tiocfaidh ar La.

  41. guys guys guys….patience.. lets wait and see what happens… dont cut noses to spite faces..dont punish our club for something thats not their fault.. please… ive renewed my tkt..im awaiting developments from the dark side.. if i dont like, then il email cetic fc and tell them my seat will be empty next season as a statement to lack off integrity.. nothing to do with finances..keep my money..

    1. Im so chuffed you can afford to gift the club what, £600 ???
No noses are being cut off here. We control the ticketing in 111 so there is no real deadline for anyone who gets their tickets via the GB and Celtic.
The statement is short and simple, we are holding off until the club either say what way they will be voting. If they dont then they will have to wait till the votes have been made public. Depending ONLY on how Celtic vote will then dictate if GB members renew or not.

  45. I spoke to a girl at the ticket office at Parkhead today and then confirmed with an email stating why I won’t be renewing but that, if justice was done, then I would be back.
I would encourage everyone not renewing to do the same.
Quote your customer number so they know who you are.
The more who register a complaint the greater our leverage.

  49. Lets not make divisions within our own club. Celtic have been managed in a very fiscally responsible manner & have stated on more than one occasion celtic will prosper with or without Glasgow Rangers. I fully understand the Green Brigade asking for a more obvious statement of support from the Celtic Board but Celtic are a business and as such must act in a legal way of choosing their words carefully. The green Brigade are the best part of our great fan base & do have the support from the Board. We are all Celtic! KTF!

  51. Does it really matter what happening with the huns. I am a true celtic supporter and think what u are suggesting to do will not hurt them but our own beloved club it just dont make sense if you are a true celtic supporter you will stand by the club no matter what hail hail.

  55. If Celtic vote against a route for Newco into SPL (ie. they say NO) – then I will support them as best I can, including the renewal of my ST that I have held since 1995. And to be honest, that is all I can expect from them. If Celtic say No, but the vote is carried anyway, then it should be the other clubs that experience the loss of our money. And to be fair, I think that is what a number of people are saying. I don’t believe people are threatening their ST if the vote is carried, knowing that PL voted No.
I am sympathetic to the problem of PL coming out and saying he will vote No – that would change the focus onto us – which will let them off the hook again. This is why I am impatient at yet another delay in the formal decision. Its a pity the club cant push the renewal date back to 1st week in June – indeed, it might be the subtle way to send out a message to the support that they are very well aware of the fan’s opinions in this matter – and unlikely to ignore their viewpoint.
However, if PL votes yes (and I hope/think that is very unlikely), then I will seriously consider cancelling my ST, as for me, it would represent a betrayal of the club’s traditions. But given that RFC only need 7 other votes, it would be the worst tactical decision of PL’s career to vote Yes – it would split the support, and likely have the Club incur a backlash from a sizeable section of our own support.
With a No vote he will be blasted by RFC and scottish media (like that’s anything new) but remain a good guy in the eyes of the support, and unite the Club for whatever action we seek to take next.
And who knows, four others might just grow a set between now and end of May.
    Hail Hail

  59. I’m astonished and disappointed by the naïveté of so many Celtic fans.
It is our own board member, Eric Riley, with the full backing of the Celtic board, that is leading the pro-newco element inside the SPL.
The Celtic board are the most nervous about how to transition from the current set-up to a much reduced TV contract and the consequential drop in other marketing in-take if there is no Celtic-Rangers matches next season. That is not an inconsiderable problem but it only focuses on short-term profit. Sport is about much more than that and the long-term financial loses will be even greater if Peter Lawwell doesn’t change tack and lead the rest of the SPL in rejecting a newco.
PL is a businessman first-and-foremost and he won’t give up short-term profit unless he sees us, Celtic fans, not renewing our season tickets. So my renewal is on hiatus until Celtic vote against a newco.

  61. I see one of my posts did not make it past the mods!!! Good to see Salmonds. Scotland alive, well and followed on a Celtic forum.
my point to James was that his “I demand to know” from PL and threatening “if he doesnt do this I’ll do that” attitude is very, how shall I put it to keep the mods happy, Govanesque!
And being honest I font eant them in the 3rd division; keep them in the SPL. They are hamstrung! Pump them rotten for another 9 years
Here we go to 10 in a row TAL

And being honest I font eant them in the 3rd division; keep them in the SPL. They are hamstrung! Pump them rotten for another 9 years
Here we go to 10 in a row TAL

  63. For the avoidance of all doubt James had grasped the bigger picture dontcha know!!!
Phew, thanks James. I am enlightened.

  65. I would like to applaud you on this course of action, I get what people are saying about not hurting our club but if Rangers are allowed to get away with decades of cheating – and there’s no other way to describe it (£10m a season advantage over rest of SPL on average) then there really is no point in ever following Scottish football again – the game is over. I don’t have a season ticket but was considering it but won’t until the board make a statement – and one that I want to hear and before it’s too late to influence any decisions that are made (I suspect this is the reason we have heard nothing – speak out when it’s too late to change anything and PL saves face)
I feel for Lawell I really do – there’s a tightrope here and timing is everything on this one. If rangers get away with this I will cancel Sky Sports/ESPN and never watch another Scottish game again, read a paper covering it, listen to Radio covering it or go to another game.. it would make me too angry to know that I was part of a process that allows one team to do what they want without ramifications… Our league is a joke as it is

  67. Furthermore I will move my interest on to WWE wrestling… at least that’s honest about being an entertainment business and not a sport unlike football in Scotland

  69. To Paul Kennedy
They have not been deleted. I’ve not been on so I have not been approve it. By the way your point is boring and has been marked as spam. Away an get a life instead of crying because you have to wait more than a few hours to have a pointless post approved.

  71. Is it true that the green brigade have had a formal meeting with PL who have told them they will not be voting for the newco? This being the reason the GB have renewed their season books?

    1. I honestly could not confirm that. All I know for sure is that the GB had a meeting with Lawwell and then asked section 111 to renew. What was discussed is confidential.
